Notes |
- Anna Katrina was Mrs. Johan (Jan) P. Andersson but did not use her husband's last name (normal in Sweden then). She was born in the village of Örsta, Husby-Oppunda, near Nyköping, in Sudermania (Södermanland), Sweden. She and Andersson had eight children, of whom three sons died in infancy. The family was living at the preserved Ersboda farm in Salem, Rönninge Township nearer Stockholm, when he died of unknown causes at only 48 years of age, leaving her widowed for 38 years until her own death. She brought up her children herself, as well as some orphaned grandchildren eventually, and lived at the Vrena estate, west of Nyköping, for the rest of her life. Today, about 300 descendants live in Sweden, Brazil, Spain, the U. S. and other countries. Many of them got together in 1994 and sent money from all over to Vrena to save her grave from a parish 'redevelopment' project, which would have had it destroyed. [1]
